Thrum Mitts

Our thrum mitts are 100% Ruby's Acres Farm produced! Let's break down the price of our thrum mitts!

1. Our animals are fed hay, grains and grocery store produce to keep them healthy and growing beautiful fleece for us.
2. The animals are shorn in May by a team of three men who come to our farm and shear all our animals.
3. We go through every fleece to determine which fleece is suitable for what use. In the case of thrum mitts, we use our baby cria fleece on the inside of the mitts as it is the softest and most desirable, not to mention oh so heavenly!
4.The fleece is sent to the mill in Ontario to made into yarn.
5. We wash, pick, card the cria fleece into batts.
6. When the yarn comes back from the mill, we dye the yarn into various amazing colors.
7. We give all the yarn to our hired knitter who then creates these beautifully master crafted thrum mitts. No two pair of mitts are the same. We can't thank Arlene enough for making a beautiful garment!
